The problem
Keyword alerts don't understand your business. They match a string, so you get every notice containing the word "network" and none of the ones that describe your work in different words. The result is a feed you stop opening after two weeks.
What the score is actually made of
Your NAICS codes against the solicitation's, your set-aside eligibility, the value range you can realistically deliver, and the place of performance. Each of those contributes a reason you can read — "matches NAICS 238220", "set-aside you qualify for", "value above your stated ceiling".
Why the reasons matter more than the number
A score with no explanation is unfalsifiable — you can't tell a good 82 from a bad one. When the reason is on the card, you can disagree with it. And when you tell us a match was wrong, that feedback tunes your own feed.
Scored on arrival, not on search
The scoring runs when the notice lands, not when you go looking. That's the difference between searching and being carried: it's scored, read, priced and drafted while you sleep.

Is the score based on AI or on filters?
Both, and in that order. Hard filters come first — if a contract is 8(a)-only and you're not 8(a), it never reaches the scoring stage. What AI adds is reading the actual scope, so a notice that describes your work in unfamiliar words still matches.
Do I need to tell you my NAICS codes?
Yes, during onboarding, and fewer is better. Three accurate codes produce a feed you'll read; twelve aspirational ones produce noise. If you don't know yours, they're on your SAM.gov registration.
What score should I bid on?
There's no universal threshold, and anyone giving you one is guessing. Read the reasons on the high scores for your first week and you'll calibrate to your own business faster than a number can do it for you.
